ABOUT

Trei Ramsey is a self-taught multidisciplinary visual artist focused on creating works that reveal the wonders and worlds he sees that share space with the world that we all live in. His evolution as an artist was provoked in early childhood by Saturday morning cartoons, mythology and comic books, and often he uses these familiar themes to frame his artistic stories and explore perspectives that are often ignored or made invisible by society at large. The nostalgic imagery, color palettes, and elements of popular culture used within his work blend together to create soothing images that challenge the viewer on closer inspection. Ramsey’s work examines tough or uncommon topics, and twists the familiar into something strange and emotional.

In March 2023, Ramsey launched his creative enterprise PRIMO as an outlet for his other creative endeavors. The PRIMO shop includes limited edition apparel designs, limited edition prints of his marker, ink, and pencil drawings, and single edition painting projects. Soon this will include extensions of The DC Rat series.

Ramsey earned a BFA in Theater Arts from Howard University and lives and works in Washington, D.C.
